Nicolas Smirnoff, author of the blog Art is Alive talk to Invader

Last December, during the exhibition 'Grifters' at Lazarides Gallery in London, Soho, Nicolas Smirnoff, author of the blog Art is Alive'and freelance journalist, has seen his dream fulfilled when he picked up an interview with the street-famous artist, INVADER.

Nicolas Smirnoff: How does the adventure begin?
Invader: I guess it all started the day I implemented the project "Space Invaders", namely the invasion of the world by creatures escaped from video games and played in the real tile. This is my most central project of my artistic practice.

NS: Can you tell us more about the show at Lazarides Gallery, London? Expose you and why?
I: The show was centered on my new works "rubikcube" (ie. compound Rubik's cube assembled) and more particularly to a new series called "Low Fidelity", which sets the sights of the great album covers. What is surprising is that with these parts when viewed loan we see most often a raster image composed of abstract and Rubik's cubes, but when that one steps back and looks at it on the screen of his mobile phone when it suddenly appears extremely sharp.

NS: How many works are exhibited?
I: A score.

NS: Why did you choose these artists for Rubik's Cubes coverage?
I: It was an album that has accompanied my life, but two were ready to choose the gallery.

NS: What do you think of David Bowie?
I: I think everyone likes DB This man is a living icon. He perfectly mastered in his career and his image. This is a great artist.

NS: Who inspired you?
I: People in particular.

NS: Are they political reasons that led thee in the street?
I: Partly yes, because this is not an insignificant act of going to work illegally in the street rather than follow a classic route. At the same time that political underground, and the conceptual or aesthetic aspect of the project are equally important.

NS: What are the cities you want to conquer? Do you have a favorite city so far?
I: I invade a South American city because I have never prevailed there. Geo is strategically important that I place sentinels.

NS: Do you have stories you would like to share with us?
I: Joker!

NS: If you were not an artist, what would you do?
I: No idea! Perhaps NASA SPACE INVASION!

NS: Do you consider yourself 'street artist'?
I: The labels are required and people know me mostly for my project "space invaders" which is indeed comparable to street art. That said, I think this is reductive because I do not just work on this project. My work Rubik Cubist-out example of this pattern.

NS: Anything else?
I: Thanks, thank you! A +!
